The ANC was born from a simple idea: Carabinieri looking out for one another. In Singapore, far from home, that idea matters more than ever.
Where it began
In 1886, in Milan, Carabinieri in congedo (no longer in active service) founded a mutual-aid society. They pooled their resources to help members who were ill, to help those out of work find a job, and to honour those who had died. That society grew into the Associazione Nazionale Carabinieri we know today.
What mutual support looks like here
Living in Singapore brings opportunities, and distance. Families are far away, systems are new, and some moments are hard to face alone. Mutual support in our section is practical and personal:
- Arriving: people who have already made the move share what they learned, from the first weeks to the first year.
- Difficult moments: when a member or a family goes through a hard time, the community stays in touch.
- Finding the right door: we help members find the right Singapore or Italian institution for their question.
- Being together: regular gatherings, so nobody feels alone.
What we can, and cannot, do
We are a community of volunteers. We offer friendship, experience and guidance. We are not an emergency, consular, legal, medical or financial service. In an emergency in Singapore, call 999 for police or 995 for ambulance and fire. For consular matters, contact the Embassy of Italy.
Members may also be able to access benefits offered by the ANC in Italy, such as partner agreements and an insurance policy. Eligibility follows the ANC's rules: ask us.
Ask for a hand
If you or your family need a hand, a word of advice or simply someone to talk to, write to us. We will listen, and help where we can.
